You could do it, you just choose not to because its hard. I will say, if there is one thing that annoys me, it's the people who say "Oh wow engineering, I could NEVER do that." No. Personally, ambition is a trait I look for in those I associate with. My only friend in the arts is an architecture major and he puts more time in to his work than I do. A couple of them are business, and although they have an easier course load, they are very heavily involved on campus. I don't knock any of my friends for their major. That said, when you're on a 12 hour study binge, all jacked up on caffeine, and feel like you can drop at any moment, of course we make some tongue and cheek comments about our other friends that are going out and partying on a Wednesday. While I wouldn't say my major defines me, it is certainly a bug chunk of who I am and I am proud of it. My marks aren't the greatest but it'll get me through school and I won't look like a failure on my resume lol Go out during the day on weekends and study at night, or vice versa. Then party once every two weeks so I don't feel like an outcast to my four roommates lol. I now spend a majority of my time studying with my gf and game before I sleep to relieve stress. I'd say my life is balanced between school, girlfriend, gaming, drinking/partying, in that order. I got the chance to take an intro accounting class, one of the harder classes I took and the engineers who took it with me agrees.īasically engineers dont get enough exposure to anything else, so we think math and physics is life. All we know in our university career is engineering. I'd say it's a fact that eng students feel stupid after a midterm or even after asking a prof a question.ģ) universities make our electives. In our campus our engineering buildings are tied together so we never have to leave that part of campus and expose ourselves to the rest of the community. Also eng students are typically isolated on campus. Through a bio question at an engineer and they'll get a slap in their face, unless they're in biomedical. Eng students are supposed to derive concepts, not memorize them like bio students. My girlfriend is trying to get into vet and I've read some of her notes and it feels like another language. I can defend that our workload is more than other majors in terms of complexity and the fact that we have 6 classes per semester + labs vs 4 courses per semester for say a business student.Ģ) Eng students only think they're smarter cause everyone says we are. Now in my third year no one complains, just accepts their workload. Ironically a lot of engineers are not efficient at studying.

A lot of first years I've seen procrastinate until the last two days before an assignment is due and then bitch about how much work it is.

Why? Cause not many ppl know how to balance their workload after high school. This is based on my own experiences.ġ) eng students only complain that other majors don't understand in their first and second year. I've known about the typical engineering attitude since high school and now that I'm in my third year I can come up with a reasoning behind it. Meme posts made outside this time will be removed.
